Another Quiet Day · Monday April 23, 2007 by Abbie

As I suspected Sunday was a complete wash out. Ram needed time to get himself together after the stress of Saturday. Because we both know what will happen, there is no stress on my part any more. I used to worry that he was spending so much time watching TV, but now I know that if he is having a stress free life he hardly gives it s look.

We watched our rental DVD which was the live action version of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Interestingly, he didn’t like it as much as the animated version that we have. The animated version was closer to the actually book. Mind you it could have been because it was the one he saw first.

After lunch he said he wanted to watch the animated version while I was having my power nap. We managed to find the tape, which is amazing as we have over 100 tapes of programmes recorded from television, but the first thing on it was an animated Astrix film. So he watched that first, then The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, and then the film after that!

No matter how stressed he is, we still stick to the same basic schedule of the day, which includes going to bed at 9PM and reading until 10 or 11! Tonight it was time to choose another book and Ram choose Hogsfather by Pratchett. He has decided not to read the Discworld books in order. I am glad really because there are 30 of them and not all of them are available at the library, and it would cost a fortune to buy them all. So we are borrowing some and finding them in charity shops when I can get there. I will have to make a list though so that I don’t get more than one copy of them!

On Monday morning Ram was a new person! As I suspected he would be better today if I left him to his own devices on Sunday.

While we were still in bed I gently suggested it was time for his reading. He asked that if he read his Bionicle book during my power nap, could he miss out on the Ram and Jane book. I said of course.

We spent a lot of time in bed reading the Pratchett book and didn’t get dressed and down to breakfast until 11. We carried on reading until lunch time. After lunch we realised that we could find the Bionicle book so he decided to watch videos instead.

I could tell today that he wasn’t 100% recovered from Saturday. He coped will with the morning but needed to be quiet in the afternoon. He also said that his legs hurt still because he had been walking a lot more than usual.

We watched a few things on television together that evening, and went up to bed to read again. A nice quiet day in preparation for tomorrow, which is a respite day!
