Friday already! · Friday October 20, 2006 by june

Yesterday didn’t quite turn out as planned – it was very wet all day, then just before Tom arrived home from school the sun suddenly came out. I think it was mocking us.

James did his maths and physics, played his accordion, read his book… I had to drag him away from his book, he didn’t want to put it down. Do you think this means he might have this reading thing sussed at last? He’s also reading the Dr who book as part of his English work, so he has two books on the go just now. Later he spent time planning the story for his animation.

Liz did maths, which she is thoroughly enjoying, reading, Dr Who, and flute practice (and then played some folk music with me and James – so lots of music). She spent ages on “The way things Work” on the computer… I think this is probably the start of her discovering all the CDroms that she had previously thought of as being “the boy’s”. She was busy all day.

I have a tune I need to learn. I need to be able to play it perfectly, without music, to be able to play it with others, stop and start randomly, and pick up where I left off. (and not hesitate anywhere because they play it fast! One hesitation and you’re lost). This is a real challenge for me as I haven’t done much playing out of the house with others. Not since I was 18 (I think) when I played the guitar, and this is much more difficult. So Home Education for the parent!! The family are sick of the tune (I’m trying not to worry about what the neighbour’s think).
