Well today was a day of change for me. I had a hospital consultation and as a result, it looks as though I won’t be blogging much after the 25th. I need fairly major surgery and will be going into hospital next Tuesday for up to 5 days with a long period of recovery.
A week ago I was saying I couldn’t possibly have my op yet, I’d need to wait until R had finished at this college as he needed so much support to keep afloat.
Well, this is how far we have come in 10 days.
He is mostly conducting himself very responsibly, organising his homework timing, his trains and free time. He’s becoming visibly more independent and self confident.
This was a boy who never really took to autonomous education, he needed and wanted a great deal of guidance, but that in it’s own way is autonomy I suppose, choosing your individual path.
Tonight was his first Explorer Scouts meeting after the summer holiday. We seem to be fitting things in quite well. We have received the audition date for the 2008 Gang Show. It will be a special show marking 70 years of the local show. He is desperate to get in but the criteria for gaining a place looks daunting. One of the reasons he is doing a limited timetable is so that he can fit in the twice weekly rehearsals for 6 months as well as his music.
