James's Comic · Wednesday October 4, 2006 by june
James finished his comic yesterday. (Click on the image to see the full version).
It’s brilliant when we have a “product” at the end of a day. One of the things I really like about Home Education is that you can just dive in and spend a day or so doing a project from start to finish. And, very soon you have a finished product and a great feeling of satisfaction.
Having said that. These comics have taken a lot longer. They needed to be drawn in pencil, then traced using a light box, then coloured in on the computer (this bit took much longer than I had anticipated). It is so satisfying to see them finished, and I’m so pleased with how they have turned out. We have printed them out, laminated them, and put them up on the wall. They look really good.
For the next part of the comic work, James and Liz are going to be reading Inverloch
The rest of the day was pretty much routine. Trying to get things done before preparing for the birthdays takes over the rest of the week. Tom is 13 on Thursday, and Grandma is 80 on Friday. We’ll be making cards and baking cakes later.
Liz is getting the hang of the high notes on the flute – I’m sure the neighbours are relieved. Although I think their habit of turning the TV on full blast during Liz’s half hour of flute practice is a bit unfair.
