Today the men did Maths again all morning. I do hope it is going to be productive; as always I feel there are more interesting things to do.
In the afternoon, I took over and we did R’s French homework on the past tense and that involved some vocab work and also revision of reflexive verbs. It didn’t start off too well but as he got into the swing of it, R raced away and was obviously enjoying it. He also recounted some little snippets of in-class conversations he’d had. He knows Paris quite well, having been there many times and could talk a little with the teacher about a specific area near to where his sister lived for 1 1/2 years after she finished at Uni. So he is taking an active part in the class :-)
That reminds me we must book Eurostar tickets for R. A few years ago when we were on the point of going on holiday to France, a French home educating family posted a message on one of the websites inviting anyone going to Paris to meet them for a bit of English/French conversation. We got in touch and duly met them. They are a lovely, close, musical family whom we have met up with several times now and last year ds spent a few days with them, going on his own by Eurostar. He is going to go again for 5 days mid April and taking his violin to play with them. Wow, he is lucky! He has also been to stay with relatives by marriage in their house in France on a short exchange with their son who then stayed with us.
Ds went off to look at a book that we’d discovered tucked away on a bookshelf when I got down our map of Paris to check on something. It was a lovely book of disused underground stations we bought when that was a particular interest.
Tonight, R is playing his violin in a concert in a village church with his strings group.
As always I think and worry about the things we haven’t done this week, this month etc….We haven’t looked at the study notes for either of the recent films we went to, as I intended, we haven’t finished the second assignment for IGCSE English, we haven’t done any of his OOL French course in recent months, we haven’t done much Biology.
Quite simply we haven’t had time, but we’ve had fun!
