Relaxing · Monday April 2, 2007 by Lily
A fairly relaxing day today. Rupert set off to meet his friend. He pops out on foot and they meet half way between their houses, and spend the day together. He is very good about returning when he says he will.
I pottered about reading emails, dh had taken the car in and our daughter-in-law came round for a cup of tea and cake with our granddaughters, who fell with glee upon a new to us doll’s house from Freecycle.
After they had gone home dh returned and phoned the police for the third or fourth time this year as a pane of glass has been broken in the greenhouse making 10 over the past 2 months. It now appears the culprits are causing trouble all over the area. They’ll catch them eventually, but this sort of mindless vandalism is very annoying when we’ve far better things to do with our time than have new glass cut, fit it and clear up shards from everywhere. I also would like to get some seeds planted, but can’t until the glass is replaced.
R came home at 3pm a little ill, a bit dizzy, headachy and hot and said he’d got up in the night for a drink of water, very unusual that. Although he was a very bad sleeper before 5 he now sleeps extremely well. We went through a long spell of about 2 years when he was wide awake at 3am and I used to bring him downstairs to play for 2 or 3 hours so dh and dd could sleep for work and school. Happy days! No-one else remembers that except me!
I had lunch ready for ds and the men set off at 3.45pm for Manchester as French class is on tonight. I’m going to read, read and do more reading.
R had the bad news that the Easter Explorer Scout camp is not now going to happen next week, but that there is a district Centenary camp in May that they are required at to help, not the same but something at least.
I should mention house-work. Not much gets done except on high days and holidays. We are going to give the house a really good clear out and clean in Sept when R goes to college, until then time is too precious. We are going to paint from top to bottom and landscape the garden….well that’s the idea anyway! I’m going to take up crafting, sewing, knitting and smocking again, playing my ‘cello and painting. Hmmm.
